The artist BEHIND Kimhart Art
I’m Kim Hartman, the artist behind Kimhart Art. From Wageningen in the Netherlands, I create hand-drawn animal portraits, pet portraits and personal commissions using traditional materials. My work is all about animals, portraits, soft colors and tiny details: the kind of little things that give a drawing character.

Hi! I’m Kim, a traditional artist from the Netherlands
As Kimhart Art I create hand-drawn pet portraits, animal portraits and portraits of people. I like to work with traditional materials such as graphite pencils, pastel pencils, colored pencils and markers.
I love using both my analytical and creative side. By day, I work as a data analyst in marketing. In my free time you’ll usually find me drawing, running, writing or hanging out with my boyfriend and my two birds (who I like to call my two little dragons). I love all animals, but I have a soft spot for everything with wings. Well… as long as they’re feathered wings.
As a child I was always drawing. I entered coloring competitions, won VHS tapes (yes, I’m that old) and once even won a yearly pass to a zoo. Then life happened and for years I hardly drew at all.

Finding my way back to drawing
When I got some more free time, I really missed having a thing to call my own. In 2024 I decided to pick up my old hobby again, this time with a bit more patience and knowledge. I soon realized I still loved it, and that I wasn’t actually too bad at it either.
I want my drawings to make people happy. Whether it’s a pet, a portrait or just a nice and cosy image. In the future I’d love to help others discover drawing too and to show them that it doesn’t all have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be difficult either. You just have to start!
